The First Responders Emergency Extrication (FREE) program is designed to offer local fire departments and rescue squads critical information on the latest technologies and materials in late-model vehicles. FREE events include classroom training by an instructor from Holmatro Rescue Equipment, followed by valuable hands-on experience cutting on vehicles with high-strength steels and practicing life-saving techniques.

Understanding evolving vehicle design as well as advanced technologies and components helps first responders perform their duties safely. The National Auto Body Council partners with Holmatro Rescue Equipment and repair facilities to provide this valuable community service program.

How to host a First Responder Emergency Extrication event

Participation in the FREE program is open to any repair facility with a minimum Bronze level membership in the National Auto Body Council.
Each event involves 3-4 salvage cars sourced from insurance companies or salvage yards. Participation at each event is generally limited 40 first responders.

Shops interested in hosting an event simply need to fill out a FREE application. A 3-6 month lead time is preferred from initial application to event date to allow time to coordinate all participants.

Once membership is confirmed and event application is received, an instructor from Holmatro Rescue Equipment will then contact your shop to set an event date. A FREE Program Manual with all the instructions will be emailed to you so you may begin your planning.
